Think again about that "bargain" paper
Perhaps the problem is not the printer or copier. Think of paper like the gas in your car. You can have a great car but bad gas can damage your car and cause reliability issues. Unfortunately most paper does not meet a uniform standard for overall performance and contains potentially damaging fillers. Poor quality paper can cause jamming problems, multiple kinds of print quality issues, cause excessive paper dust and reduce the life cycle of drums, fusers and feed components. That bargain paper is no bargain. HP recommends using paper with the ColorLok logo. Then you know it has met a quality standard for performance.
Is new equipment more reliable?
Actually failure rates are highest when when a product is new then the reliability stabilizes. In addition problematic models or products are not identified until they have been on the market and in use. By avoiding problematic models and having any minor problems that occur to new products resolved, high quality well maintained used multi-function copiers are your best value.
